Galatians 5:25 If we live by the spirit, let us also walk by the spirit.
What does it really mean to walk by the spirit. To be able to walk by the spirit we need to have the spirit of God in us. This is accomplished by putting our trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Romans 10:9-10 If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by faith that we are put right with God, it is by our confession that we are saved. When we do this we are reconciled to God, and he no longer counts our sins against us. The gospel truly is good news. Christ came to bring peace between God and mankind. Sin disrupted that harmony, but Jesus restored it. Amen
Living the Christian life is not easy at times, and will definitely bring trials, but God in his mercy will use those trials to strengthen us. Also our faith will begin to increase, when we experience the work of Christ in our lives. One thing we must always remember is nothing is impossible with God. We read in Luke 18:27 What is impossible for man is possible with God. Just look at the world and the universe around it, God made all this from nothing, Proverbs 3:19-20 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding he established the heavens. Our God is amazing, no problem is too big for him. My favourite scripture is found in Isaiah 40:25-26 To whom will you liken me, or to whom shall I be equal, says the holy one. Lift up your eyes on high, and see who created these things, who brings out there host by number. he calls them by name, By the greatness of his might, and the strength of his power, not one is missing.
Our understanding of the awesomeness of God is limited. Not one person or one thing can compare to him.
More importantly we must never forget his love for us. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Romans 8:37-39 yet in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities and powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God is not done with us when we get saved, in fact it is just the beginning. Every person who truly believes in Christ will be transformed into his likeness. We start off on what the Bible calls the milk of the word. But as we grow spiritually we will go on to eat meat. When we first begin to follow Jesus we are immature and worldy, but as we grow in knowledge so does our behaviour. We need to let God's desires become our own. Then we will gradually be transformed into the likeness of Jesus our saviour.
In Luke 11:9,10 it says, So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
These are the words of Jesus telling us to never give up, sometimes it is so easy to conclude that God cannot be found, especially in difficult circumstances. We must persist and understand that Jesus will reward us. We should continue to ask him for more knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding.
If you have never accepted Jesus as your Lord and saviour then why not do that right now. Just say a simple prayer for Jesus to start you on a wonderful journey of transformation.
Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen.
