Could we be the terminal generation? Never before in history have we seen such a convergence of end time prophecy. Jesus spoke about a last generation. He said that the ones who see the restoration of Israel will be the generation that witnesses his return. Could that be us, could we be that generation? Well Israel did become a nation in 1948. There are many prophecies in the Bible that tell us when the near return of Jesus Christ will be. Many Jews have returned to Israel since it's re-establishment. However this will be a gathering of Jews who do not believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah. This will be done in preparation for the tribulation period of 7 years. The Jewish nation is the most predominant and prophetic indicator of the times we now live.
We live in the most unique time in history. The prophetic words of Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel and Isaiah are literally unfolding before our eyes. Ezekiel 36 being the dramatic example. Ezekiel was told to speak to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys.
Ezekiel 36:7-9 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord God, I have lifted up mine hand, surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame. But ye O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel, for they are at hand to come. For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown.
Today 70 years after the re-birth we see a land that is once again fertile.
Jesus told his disciples much to there disappointment that Jerusalem would be utterly destroyed. In 70 AD as Jesus foretold Jerusalem was destroyed by the Roman empire. From that day the Jews were scattered across the world. But God has kept his promise regarding the nation of Israel.
The word of God states in Isaiah 66:8
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Isaiah spoke of a time when the dry and parched land would once again bloom. This is certainly true of Israel. Even the sand produces lush crops.
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let that are in the midst of it depart out, and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
Israel is under constant threat from her enemies. However there have been remarkable stories of how even in recent times God has caused miracles to occur, which have resulted in Israel's failure to be crushed.
The hand of God is on his land and people. In his time and his time only will his plan be worked out.
During the sermon on the mount the disciples came to Jesus to ask him when all these thing would take place. Jesus gave unmistakable signs that we can certainly apply to our present day. He spoke of wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes in divers places, famines and pestilences, he said that men's hearts will fail them because of the fear and catastrophe they see. The very powers of the heaven's will be shaken.
In recent month's there have been a dramatic increase in earthquakes. The shaking of the earth is unprecedented in the history of the world. Even so the media remains silent. But those of us who believe in Jesus and are watching and waiting patiently for his return, we know that very soon the end of this age will be upon us.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from the heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
We really are entering a turbulent time in history. I believe it is also a very exciting time for believers. All the evidence points to us being the Terminal generation. The ones who may never experience death. Those of us who have placed our faith in the true Messiah Jesus Christ will be caught up to meet Jesus in the clouds. There are so many things to write down, but like the apostle John said even all the world could not contain all the things of God.
Soon we will experience our blessed hope. The rapture of the church is an imminent event. Nothing has to happen for it to take place. The things taking place on earth are birth pangs that will lead up to the Tribulation period.
Sadly most of the world chooses to ignore the signs that are all around us. The word of God tells us that just as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the son of man. The media is as blind as the culture it is leading. People have no idea where they are heading. It really is time to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone.
