What does the Bible tell us about a third and final Temple. One thing we know is the Bible speaks of a future third Temple that will be built. The first temple that Solomon built was destroyed in 586 BC. The second temple was subsequently built when the Jew's returned from Babylonian captivity. This was the temple that was still standing when Jesus came to earth. It stood for almost 600 years, until it's destruction in 70 A.D by the Romans.
During the reign of Herod the second temple was enlarged and beautified by the King. Some claim that because Herod practically rebuilt it, then it could be considered the third temple.
However sacrifices were never stopped during it's renovation, therefore it is still considered to be the second temple.
The third and final Temple will exist during the Tribulation period. During the mid point of the Tribulation is when the Anti-Christ will enter and declare that he is God.

The Anti-Christ will not just stop Jewish worship, but all religious worship. he will declare himself God, he will threaten to kill all who refuse to bow down to him.

Certainly Donald Trump's declaration regarding Jerusalem has sparked activists to believe that the Third temple is closer than ever to it's fulfilment.
The main problem with a third temple is it's location, the next Temple has to be on the same spot as the previous two. This has to do with the Holy of Holies, but no one knows for sure where the previous temples were located. It is however widely believed that they stood where the Dome of the rock now currently stands. We can only speculate about how the Dome of the rock can be removed, maybe God will cause and earthquake to bring it down.
I recently read that the temple institute is dedicated to doing everything possible to build the Third Jewish Temple on the Temple mount. They have published tens of volumes and recreated over 70 sacred vessels for use in the Temple.
To recapitulate we know that a third temple will exist during the Tribulation. It may be in the form of a tabernacle. The prophet Ezekiel saw the rebuilding of an eternal dwelling place of God. Ezekiel 43:4-7 And the glory of the Lord came into the Temple by way of the gate which faces toward the east. The spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the Temple. It is the place where Jesus will reign over all the earth. What we do know is it will be a place where his divine presence will reside.
