What is happening to our world ?

World war 3 is a frightening prospect. When people think of a third world war and the fact that it could possibly be nuclear is undeniably scary. I am going to try and ponder world war 3 from a Biblical view point. By doing so we can get an idea of the real picture. How much of a threat is it really. We are told that right now a new cold war is emerging that has the potential to make the last one pale in comparison. People are beginning to feel a sense of panic as the reality of the daily news brings fear and dread.

In the Bible it does mention that just before the return of Jesus there will be wars. You may say well we have always had wars. That is true, but not wars on the scale we are now seeing. Jesus also gave other signs that will happen before his return. We are not just experiencing one of the signs God gave us, but a whole bunch of them. Earthquakes, famine, disease, to name just a few. However one of the biggest and most amazing sign's is the re-establishment of the Jewish nation. God said this would occur in the last days. Israel became an independent nation in 1948. When it comes to prophecy and prediction you can count on the accuracy of the Bible.

The words in Zechariah seem to give us a glimpse into the future. Zechariah was a priest as well as a prophet. What he says may once have seemed like a fantasy but in today's world it is a reality we may soon face. Don't forgot Zechariah wrote these words in 518-BC

Zechariah 14:12 And the Lord will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

It appears from Zechariah's words that he is talking about nuclear war. There has been no weapon in the past that could do what the prophet is explaining here. His description fits accurately with an atomic attack.

Listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 24:3-8
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples name to Him privately, saying, Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The words of Jesus are definitely pointing to the world we see today.
The Bible also mentions a final war. mention a final war. In Matthew Jesus talks of a terrible time that will come upon the whole earth. Matthew 24:21-22 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

It seems the Bible is clearly telling us that something big is going to happen. It is something that has never happened before. Revelation 9:18: "A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.
There has never been a disaster that has killed a third of the human race. 2 billion human beings will be obliterated from the earth. So now we can understand the enormity of this biblical apocalypse. The prophecy seems crystal clear that world war 3 is coming.

However among all the bad news the Bible offers us a hope. A future that is beyond our wildest imagination. You see if you have given your life to Jesus Christ you will escape all the things that are coming upon the earth. It is called the rapture. according to God's word we will be rescued from the coming destruction

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves.  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.  So encourage each other with these words.

What a wonderful prospect for believers in Jesus Christ!

.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, that hour which is to come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

There is a hope that will not perish along with this world. Blessings!
